Carlos Rosario is an exciting place to work. We have an exceptional group of teachers and staff who are committed to making a difference in the lives of a diverse group of adult students. Our students love our school and are eager to learn English and other employment skills so they can become productive citizens and members of American society, who ultimately give back to family and community. Carlos Rosario School employs over 150 full and part time employees. Our school is located in the popular neighborhood of Columbia Heights. We are within walking distance from the Columbia Heights metro station.

Positions Available for the 2012-2013 School Year

(FT) Career Specialist

Immediate opening for a full time Career Specialist. Primary responsibilities include: 1) Fostering relationships with local and regional employers and industry liaisons to create an employee pipeline to employers; and 2) Providing employment counseling, job placement and retention services to workforce trainees, particularly culinary arts students.

Qualifications:

• BA degree
• fluency in Spanish, Amharic, or Chinese required
• Ideal candidate has job development experience, strong networking capabilities, experience working with the immigrant community and/or sensitivity to diversity issues, and a background in the hospitality or culinary industries, specifically in DC area hotels/restaurants

Hours: Monday-Friday. Must be able to work two nights per week.

(FT) HR Generalist

Immediate opening for individual to be responsible for the recruitment of non-exempt employees and coordinate training programs for the staff.

Qualifications:

• 3-5 years of related experience
• BA degree
• Strong written and verbal communications skills
• Able to maintain confidentiality
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
• Individual must also be able to work in a fast-paced environment and work as a part of a team
• Fluency in Spanish preferred

Teaching at Carlos Rosario

There are no current open teaching positions at this time; however, interested applicants are welcome to submit a resume.

All applicants for teaching positions must have the following requirements:

• BA degree (Masters preferred) in TESOL, Adult Education, Linguistics or related field.
• Three - five years ESL teaching experience.

*All teachers are hired on a part time basis to start.

Teaching shifts are:

AM (8:30am - 11:30am) PM (1:00pm - 4:00pm) EVE (6:00pm - 9:00pm)
